OFAC designated three Nicaraguan government officials and one state-owned gold mining company pursuant to the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act (E.O. 13818). The individuals are cited for their roles in serious human rights abuses and corruption, including the suppression of political dissent. The mining company is accused of being a key source of illicit revenue for the Ortega-Murillo regime, which uses the profits to oppress the Nicaraguan people. All property and interests in property of these persons in the U.S. are blocked.
