OFAC has updated its Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list entry for Laureano Ortega Murillo, a son of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. The amendment adds several new aliases and a new business entity that he allegedly uses to circumvent sanctions. Originally designated in 2019 under E.O. 13851 for his role in corruption and undermining democratic institutions, this update aims to tighten the restrictions on him and prevent his continued access to the international financial system through deceptive means.
